How This Wordle Solver Actually Works
Most Wordle solvers are vague about their method. Here is exactly what this Wordle solver does, because the logic is simple and worth understanding:
For every guess you enter, the solver replays that guess against each candidate answer and computes the green/yellow/gray pattern it would produce. It then keeps only the words whose computed pattern matches the colors you actually saw. Because it uses the same scoring rules as the game itself, it handles the tricky cases correctly — including repeated letters, where a letter can be green once and gray again in the same word.
To rank the best next guess, the solver looks at every word still in the running and asks: if I guessed this word, how many possibilities would I expect to have left afterward? It groups the remaining answers by the feedback pattern each guess would produce and favors the word that splits them into the smallest groups. The guess that leaves the fewest words on average rises to the top — that is the one that teaches you the most.
