What Is Dordle?
Dordle is a free, unlimited Wordle variant where you solve two hidden five-letter words at the same time. Every guess you type is entered into both boards at once, and you have seven guesses to crack both.
The color feedback is the classic Wordle system, scored separately for each board: green means the right letter in the right spot, yellow means a right letter in the wrong spot, and gray means the letter is not in that word. Because one guess is judged against two different answers, a letter can come back green on the left and gray on the right. You can play Dordle unlimited times in any modern browser, on desktop or mobile, with no app and no account.
Dordle was one of the earliest Wordle twists to catch on, back in early 2022, and the two-board format has stayed popular because it doubles the puzzle without changing anything you already know. How to Play Dordle in 5 Steps
- 01 Type one five-letter guess. Your guess is entered into both boards at the same time. Pick a strong opener that gathers letter clues for two words at once.
- 02 Read both boards. Each board colors your guess independently: green for the right letter in the right spot, yellow for a right letter in the wrong spot, gray for a letter not in that word.
- 03 Track two words in parallel. The same letter can be green on the left board and gray on the right. The keyboard strip under each key shows its status on each board.
- 04 Solve both within seven guesses. You get seven tries — one more than Wordle — but you must crack both hidden words. A board freezes once you solve it.

The catch is in the math: you get one extra guess but a second word to solve, and both words must fall to the same sequence of guesses. That forces a different mindset — every guess has to earn its keep on two boards at once, not one.

A common Dordle plan is to spend your first two guesses on fixed, letter-rich openers like RAISE and a second word covering the remaining vowels and consonants — building a wide base of clues for both boards before you commit to solving either one.
What a Dordle Board Looks Like
Two five-letter grids sit side by side and share one keyboard. The same guess appears on both, colored for each hidden word. Here the guesses TRACE and CRANE have already solved the left word, while the right word is still open:
Look at the keyboard while you play: each letter key has a thin strip split into two segments. The left segment shows that letter's status on the left board and the right segment shows it on the right board — so a single key can tell you a letter is confirmed in one word and ruled out in the other. Once you train your eye to read those strips, you stop guessing blind and start every line already knowing which letters are still worth testing on the board you have left to solve.
5 Tips to Win More Dordle Games
The jump from Wordle to Dordle is less about vocabulary and more about sequencing — which board to attack, and when. These five habits make the biggest difference once you are comfortable with the basics:
- 01Open wide, then commit. Spend your first two guesses on letter-rich openers that serve both boards before you start solving either word. Early information is shared; late guesses are not.
- 02Solve the clearer board first. When one board has more greens, finish it — that frees your remaining guesses to focus entirely on the harder word.
- 03Read the keyboard strips. The split status strip under each key is the fastest way to see which letters are still live on the unsolved board.
- 04Mind your guess budget. Seven guesses for two words is tighter than it sounds. Avoid spending a whole line confirming something you already know on one board.
